Over the years, St. Lucie Ballet has developed a strong reputation for the highest quality training and superb performances. Co-Directors Lydia Oquendo Corrales and her husband, Rogelio Corrales have devoted 
their lives to dance. Both as performers and teachers, they have had long careers in the dance field. They can not help but to pass their vast knowledge and experience
...And their love for the art on to younger generations!

They have selected a staff who feel the same way. Each instructor is selected for his or her knowledge and expertise.

It is very important to stress that St. Lucie Ballet is a strong ballet-based school. All styles of dance have good ballet training -- as their base. A great dancer must also be trained in most styles of dance, as well. If one is looking to win trophies and going to competitions, St. Lucie Ballet may not be the right fit.

However, if one is looking for great dance training in a caring and safe environment with professionals with experience with a long term career goal in mind, St. Lucie Ballet is 
definitely the right fit!

St. Lucie Ballet opened its pre-professional dance academy in August of 2004. Since then we have gained a reputation of quality and professionalism in the education of dance. Students are taught by professionals that have or have had successful careers in the dance world. Our schools focus is classical ballet technique and we take each child’s training and development very seriously. 

Our attention to detail helps with the health and proper formation of bones and muscles, good technique for injury prevention, proper body placement, physical esthetic, memory, and etiquette. St. Lucie Ballet alumni also exhibit the ability to work through obstacles in their lives. They learn to adapt, overcome obstacles, use their own knowledge, have integrity, learn to respect others and respect themselves.

St. Lucie Ballet dance productions are prepared with quality and attention to detail. Directors Lydia Oquendo and Rogelio Corrales have the knowledge of many years of building and choreographing beautifully done performances. They have the wisdom, talent for teaching, and directing ages three through adult to perform at a professional level. Always invited to supplement these performances are professional guests artists from companies such as Ballet Florida, Tulsa Ballet, Miami City Ballet, Alberta Ballet and others.

For the winter performance the full length production of
The Nutcracker is a performance that fills a theater such as the Sunrise Theatre with joyous applause. Six years in the making, St. Lucie Ballet’s The Nutcracker displays gorgeous backdrops, props, costumes, and exciting choreography that entertain all ages.

In the spring we present suites of some of the best classics known to the ballet world. Coppelia, Don Quixote, A Midsummer’s Night Dream, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake are a few.

Students get a history lesson by learning original choreography by ballet masters from the past such as Lev Ivanov, Arthur Saint-Leon, Marius Petipa, and others. This kind of education is very special and St. Lucie Ballet takes pride in being able to pass on the 400 year old tradition of ballet to its students.

St. Lucie Ballet is a “Business Partner” with many area schools. Participating schools give out our information and in turn new student registration fees are donated back to the child’s school to help with the purchase of any needed items and supplies.
