St. Lucie Ballet now boasts of having an amazing art installation by world renowned artist Zard.

St. Lucie Ballet Directors Lydia and Rogelio Corrales met her about four years ago. While at Fort Pierce Central High School, Mrs. Corrales was helping Band Director Mathew Boswell and Drama Director Lisa Stewart with their yearly musical as their choreographer. Zard was building and painting their scenery.

Shortly after, she was hired to paint the hard pieces of scenery of both Swanilda and Dr. Coppelius' houses for the 2011 presentation of Coppelia. Ever since then, Mrs. Corrales had been wanting her to paint something large for the inside of the studio.

After a few years of collaboration, Zard was formerly commissioned. Pictures of various dancers were sent to her. Some of them are actually St. Lucie Ballet's very own ballerinas Tessa Hogge, Cassidy Daves and Katie Stuehmer. Mrs. Corrales asked her to create something with dancers in silhouette while depicting three favorite dance styles of Ballet, Jazz, and Modern. Colors were discussed color just a bit
...And Zard just went for it!

The large triptych fills the space on the South wall of the large studio with beautiful colors and a very special energy. She truly captured the essence of each dance form.

Everyone loves them. Thank you Zard!

St. Lucie Ballet Owners and Directors Lydia Oquendo Corrales and Rogelio Corrales, along with students and families, and others -- enjoyed the loveliest and most important party of the year. The Ten Year Anniversary Gala was held on May 10, 2014 at the beautiful Tryst Downtown Ballroom in Historical Downtown Fort Pierce.

Guests wore their formal best, as jewels and dresses sparkled in the flickering flames of dazzling candle light of this elegant space decorated by Janine Rivera. All ages partied and danced to the choice beats of D.J. Andres. A favorite of the evening was the giant Sushi boat filled with an array of sushi and assorted rolls. Other gastronomical delights included Filipino empanaditas and Asian spring rolls served with international flair. Of course, all went excellently along side the signature drink, the Mojito.

About 80 guests attended. Many of the younger guests have been students with St. Lucie Ballet for ten years. Director of Paris Ballet and Dance of Jupiter, Florida, and good friend Jean-Hugues Feray, along with international French stage and ccreen actor Tangi Colembel, were also in attendance. As a special added surprise, former teachers Brianne Agustin and Lauren Johnson, traveled from afar to join in the celebration.

"We would like to sincerely thank all who attended. This milestone means so much to our family!” -  Lydia and Rogelio Corrales

St. Lucie Ballet Co-Director Rogelio Corrales is in rehearsals with Ballet Palm Beach as he reprises his role as Bassilio in Don Quixote on April 4 and 5, 2014 at the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

The ballet is a whimsical look at the strong willed couple Bassilio and Kitri, who wants to be married. This is in spite of Kitri's father, Don Lorenzo's wishes. He has also made an arranged marriage for his daughter with the rich but older dandy/fop Don Gamache.

Treasure Coast audiences will fondly remember St. Lucie Ballet performing this ballet in June of 2013 -- to a great response!

St. Lucie Ballet Co-Director Rogelio Corrales is currently preparing for his role as Romeo in Ballet Palm Beach's production of Romeo and Juliet. Having performed this role in the past, Mr. Corrales always brings a vital, young and passionate sensitivity to the character. As a very demanding role, Romeo appears in all acts with sword fights, dancing with the corps and incredible pas de deuxs with Juliet. However, the final pas de deux is probably one of the most demanding and completely heart-wrenching!

Mr. Corrales has been a principal dancer with Ballet Palm Beach for the past several years. He has danced many exciting and leading roles with them. The production is at the Eissey Campus Theatre at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens on February 14 and 15.  ...For more information

"LET'S GO TO THE BALLET!"
St. Lucie Ballet has always believed it is an absolute necessity for any student to attend performances of professional dance companies. Seeing a LIVE performance of dance is a vital learning tool, as well! Watching dance in a movie, on television or on Youtube is OK
...BUT actually seeing a LIVE performance very important.

Whether in the orchestra section or the last row of the balcony, it is not necessarily important where one sits in the theatre. However, it is necessary and VERY important to just be -- IN -- the theatre to experience the energy of the dancers AND the audience. This can not done when sitting at home in front of a TV or computer! Actually, a student can always learn more about their very own performance skills while sitting in the “cheaper” seats. Dance students all over the world spend a lot of time in the "nose bleed" section of a theatre just to watch professional dancers perform!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED:

Guest artist and friend of St. Lucie Ballet, Joseph J. Bucheck III, is featured in Dance Florida Magazine in a huge four page article. The interview also features some great things that all dance students and performers can apply to themselves.

Mr. Bucheck has been involved with St. Lucie Ballet for many years. He has delighted audiences with his performances as Mother Ginger in The Nutcracker, Don Lorenzo in Don Quixote and Dr. Coppelius in Coppelia (and will do so again in 2014). He has also performed with Co-Founder and Co-Director Rogelio Corrales during their time at Ballet Florida and currently with Ballet Palm Beach

Two pictures in the article, were actually taken during St. Lucie Ballet performances. There is also a photo of Mr. Bucheck along with Co- Director Rogelio Corrales and Paris Ballet and Dance Founder and Director Jean-Hugues Feray.

The Tea Party at Hogwarts event was incredible! The decorations designed by Janine R. Bosque were incredible. There were yummy foods donated by some of our parents. We had chicken, cucumber, hummus, deviled ham sandwiches, pumpkin and carrot mini cupcakes, mini cheesecake, juice, soda and coffee. Outside we had a small carnival where the kids played Quiddich, ring tossing, and searching through the hay pile for hidden candy, prizes, spiders, and snakes too. We also had the Potter car parked outside! Thanks to Jakiah's dad Robert for that.

Thanks to all who helped put this event together. If you didn't make it this time keep your eye open for the next event. We have the best party decor outside of Orlando.
